Treatment that can improve recovery after spinal cord injury

In my weekly search for new research involving neurological injuries or diseases, I found an Australian clinical trial aimed at improving recovery from spinal cord injuries. A new anti-inflammatory drug will be given to participants within hours of spinal trauma in an effort to minimize tissue damage.

The trial will run for three years and will aim to recruit 20 participants (stating approximately 90 people sustain spinal cord injuries in Queensland per year).

From attending interdisciplinary conferences in the past, I'm quite certain that a medication aimed at decreasing inflammation is injected close to the spine. I assume this study is looking at another medication that decreases inflammation systemically. However, I am not sure about this so just see this article as one that sounds promising but I know nothing further about at the moment.
