Parkinson SuperWalk September 10th

We're taking part in the Parkinson SuperWalk again this year, as a group. Owen, Tracy and Emily on the fitness side are planning out a warm up for the group before the walk. Here is a little info about PD and the SuperWalk website link if anyone is interested in joining us.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive, degenerative brain disorder. It is marked by tremor, muscular rigidity, slow imprecise movements, mainly affecting middle-aged and elderly people. It is the second most prevalent brain disorder in Canada. By 2031, Canada’s Parkinson’s population is expected to double. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease.

Since 1990, Parkinson SuperWalk has raised more than $34 million to fund education, support, vital research, and advocacy, on behalf of Canadian’s with Parkinson’s disease and their families, friends and caregivers. In 2015, the SuperWalk raised $2.7 million.

The funds raised go to research, education, support services and advocacy.
