LSVT BIG - Rehabilitation Therapy for People with Parkinson's

LSVT Big, very briefly summarized, is a training protocol that increases the amplitude (Bigness) of movement in people with Parkinson's disease. This protocol has been proven to improve balance, speed of movement and quality of life. People are able to maintain their improvements for long periods therefore demonstrating a slower progression of the disease symptoms.

It is really amazing to see how it can improve someone's function who has a degenerative disease. The principles of LSVT Big can also be applied to people with other neurological disorders and diseases and could even help with general "aging" symptoms. What is expected is a lot of repetition, participation in daily homework and functional exercise plans in order to make the exercises meaningful. In doing this, you can retrain your brain and you can walk bigger (and better).

So as you can imagine, this is a protocol that we want to provide for our clients! Anyway, stay tuned for more information on this as we finish our certification and make a plan for providing this therapy.
